New Beginnings

Hi guys! Well, we are into the second month of construction of our new family home. It has been a whirlwind so far and has happened rather quickly. We have sold our home and settled into our much smaller condo in town (which is normally our studio). It has caused us to become much closer as a family (enter sarcasm here). Seriously, everyone is pulling there weight and making it work. It will be well worth the wait and sacrifices made once we are settled in to our new home.(late July early August) I will be starting to upload pictures soon of the construction progress. :) I invite you to check into my blog regularly and share in me and my families excitement.

.....he was the Richest Man I've ever known

My Daddy, My Hero Died January 18^th, 2012, 68 Years Young. OH! Daddy, I miss you.  I sit here and write this with a heavy heart, but I want people to think about how short life can be.  How important it is to Live, Laugh, and Love.  Never leave angry and always tell those important in your life you love them.   Today I want to tell you how important it is to take photos of your loved ones,  they don’t have to all be Pro level photos, Grab that point and shoot and go to town!  I am known for having a camera with me ALL the time.  My kids know mom has a point and shoot or pro level camera everywhere we go.  For years I go to family gatherings and take photos of family and friends.  My father always seemed to evade my camera.   He always caught me taking a photo, and he would quickly, move his hands in front of his face, turn from the camera, tell me, Karen…go on now.  Every Spring, every Christmas, I would tell my Mom and Dad “We ARE taking family photos…I mean it….You will NOT get away from me this time”.  And we never did those sessions.   Oh I regret it.  I have so many photos of him fleeing the scenes, So to speak.  I regret not getting some really great photos of my Daddy, I’m a Photographer darn it. What memories I could have created.   Please guys, Get some great pictures of your family.  Will it bring them back-No.  Will it make them better (if they are ill)-No.  Will it make you miss them less-No.   But It will allow you to save the memories for so many.  It will allow you to print them and frame them, and be able to adore them, it will allow you to smile and tell your children about them, so they won’t forget.   This is not a plug for my Photography business, you can do this with whoever you’d like.  I just want to tell others about how I felt after my Dad died, and my regrets.  If one person reads this and actually gets some great photos of your family, snap some shots, have a great time doing this,  it will make me happy.  Don’t put it off, do it sooner than later.  Tomorrow is not promised. I have so many regrets. 

I miss my Daddy.  The church was overflowing with those that my daddy touched.  I wish he was here so I could do and/or say so much, but failed to.  I want to be a better Daughter.  He knows I thought of him as my Hero.  He knows I love him.  But the emptiness I feel is so great.  RIP William T. Garvey, I love you!! And we all Miss your smile and corny Jokes!

Happy New Year to everyone.  I want to Thank all my friends and Clients for sticking by me with my Photography Business.  I want to introduce The Britt kids.  We did a session at Wrightsville Beach, NC in December, but kept them secret until the Holidays were over—Due to the fact they were Gifts for family.  But Now I get to release them…YAY.  We did the session in full sun, due to the fact that that was the only time we had before it was too late for Christmas.  Of course these little guys were full of energy and laughter.  I like to allow the kids to be themselves and snap some great candid’s as well as catch their Smiling faces at times.  It’s just easier that way.  When the parents start yelling at them to sit down, be still, smile, etc., they tend to clam up or cry.  We don’t like sad faces normally as a Photographer.  So…we let them enjoy their time and at times it takes longer, but I have yet to fail with getting great images the family loved.  These guys are the heartbeat of so many of their family members.  They truly catch your heart and don’t let go.  I love what I do….I love to enjoy my sessions!  And this one….I enjoyed thoroughly.   Enjoy.

Some days.....

Some days, have you ever just wanted to go back to bed? I Love my Family. I Love my Friends. But there are times nothing goes right, or seems GOOD. But then I reflect on my life. What I have learned, will learn, do Love, have Loved. And I realize, Its not so bad. Actually its wonderful. My Favorite thing to do when I'm feeling down, is to look at photos. I LOVE to sit down and look at my babies....when they WERE babies. To look at the times in my past. The good....and the Bad (of course the Good is MUCH better). I Love to look at the photos of my clients...and reflect on how they feel when they look at their photos....How they looked at each other, at me, at the photos when they first seen them. With smiles on their faces and tears in their eyes....its SO worth it. I love my Job! I love my Life!

I just want to let everyone know about some specials I'm running.

~During The Months of August and September- 50% of my bookings will go to the Tenth anniversary 9-11 Motorcycle Ride, sponsored by The Red Knights 6 (Firefighters) through Britts Motorsports, to benefit the UNC Burn Center! If you schedule a sitting/session, a 50% deposit will be required, and At the end of September, the Donation will be made. This is a wonderful group of people, that work very hard every year to raise the bar higher with Donations! The goal this year is $10,000 So help me help them hit their Target!

~The next wedding booked, will get either a free Engagement or Bridal Portrait session. So if you are getting married give me a Call, we will get together and discuss expectations, times, and prices. I also have a referral program~If you refer anyone that books, you both win!
